Deep Tissue Massage Techniques

Deep tissue massage techniques include the use of fingertips, knuckles, forearms and elbows. The therapist uses these techniques to apply pressure and create friction in the deepest layers of muscle, causing the release of knots, muscle tension and inflammation. Deep tissue massage techniques are also used to eliminate scar tissue.

Unlike with other massage methods, the therapist using deep tissue massage techniques will work across the grain of the muscles to loosen knots. Some of the techniques may create soreness in the patient that can last for a couple of days. However, after this time, patients feel relaxed and relieved of the pain previously caused by muscle tension.

Use Massage Stones from River Rock Massage as One of Your Deep Tissue Massage Techniques

Massage stones represent a more gentle approach to deep tissue techniques. The stones more commonly used for deep tissue massage are basalt stones and river rock stones. Basalt massage stones have smooth surfaces while river rock stones are generally textured, but both stones can be used for hot or cold massage therapy.

At River Rock Massage, we have a variety of basalt and river rock kits that you can choose from. Our kits have been specially created to suit the various needs of professional as well as home users.
